REPO ROUNDUP · FREE OPEN-SOURCE TOOLS

</aside>

Nine open-source projects doing the job of software people pay for. Every tool here lives on GitHub, costs nothing to use, and is good enough to stand in for a paid product, from research notebooks to SEO suites to image generation. It is built for anyone who would rather self-host than subscribe. Tap any tool in the index to jump to it, grab the repo link, and check what it actually costs to run before you commit.

INDEX — click any item to jump straight to it

HOW TO USE THIS LIST

01 · Scan the index

Every repo is listed above. Tap a name to jump straight to it. Each entry says what the tool replaces and what it really costs to run.

02 · Check what you supply

Some tools are free outright. Others are free to run but need your own API key or a GPU. The orange notes flag exactly what you have to bring.

03 · Grab the repo

Follow the GitHub link, read the project's own setup guide, then clone or install from there. Star the ones you keep so they are easy to find again.

01 · Open Notebook

RESEARCH TOOL  ·  SELF-HOSTED, FREE

A private alternative to Google's NotebookLM that you run yourself.

What it does

Add PDFs, videos, websites and notes, then chat with them, generate summaries, and turn them into podcasts. Connect it to Ollama and everything stays on your own machine, so none of your source material leaves your computer.
